ASICS is an acronym for the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” which means “a sound mind in a sound body”. To achieve sound mind in a sound body, we need a sound earth. We need to take responsibility to reduce environmental footprint and ensure a long term future of the planet.

More than 10 years ago, we conducted co-research with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to find a better way to accurately measure and reduce the CO2e impact across the entire life cycle of a shoe. As a result of evolving the methodology and utilizing the knowledge, we released "GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95", lightest CO₂ sneaker on the market *1, which emits just 1.95kg CO₂e, in 2023.
To achieve 1.95kg, we took 16 key steps through value chain, such as renewable energy sourcing in the manufacturing process, using recycled polyester, cutting loss reduction by arranging the parts shape, and using bio-fuel plan for the shipment. The key innovation was carbon negative foam which was made from a fusion of bio-based polymers derived partly from sugarcane, these combine to deliver high-level comfort and quality in a sustainable way.
The GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95 sneaker is a significant milestone in our commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
